the summit: day 1
July 28, 2011
day one is well under way.
here’s what i’ve done thus far:
picked underwear i thought apropos for meeting frankling habit.
no i won’t tell you what it is, or show you.
(i would show him, though)
met franklin habit.
learned more about photography and my camera in three hours than i have in my whole life. (which is pathetic if i think about it)
kinneared anna zilboorg
thus proving i paid no attention in my photography class.
ate lunch with a baby, then pushed him around in a stroller.
(shocking, i know)
drank a dirtini martini and stood in the longest line i’ve ever seen in my life. (these bitches want their yarn!)
somewhere in all of that,
i took some photos of my mojo shawl.
the light was fighting me,
but i wanted to give it to its recipient.
no i’m not going to tell you who it was for.
(isn’t this just a fascinating read?)
i’m off to the opening night reception.
here’s hoping i (don’t) make a drunken fool of myself!

So very, very jealous! But I want to hear EVERY. SINGLE. DETAIL. :o) Hope you have an amazing time! Your shawl is gorgeous – your mystery recipient is very lucky!

The shawl is gorgeous – you’ve definitely got the mojo back. I could really use the Franklin Habit class – my photos are usually done on the fly with my phone; the results are about what you would expect. Glad you’re having a great time!

The shawl is truly gorgeous. Have fun in Portland.

I’ve never met Mr. Habit, but from reading his blog I would say any clean and well-fitting undies would be acceptable. If he were to see them in private, I might guess black leather, black mesh, or sapphire-blue silk satin could produce desired results. Then again, a bright-red Duofold union suit might work best in some circumstances ;-)!
However, if his “friend” Dolores is anywhere to be seen or heard, double-bag your junk in the most absorbent adult diapers you can find. That sheep has been known to make bronze statues have housebreaking “accidents”. And yes, I have heard her — chasing a fire engine down Clark Street, offering to help the firemen with their hoses. I understand the poor firefighters still suffer with post-traumatic stress disorder.

I don’t think you can judge photo skillz by kinnearing photos. It was fun to meet you in person (as to some other way, I guess). I know you don’t like the pics, but the last one of the shawl on the table is awesome.
Hope you have fun at opening night. I’ll drink my water and pretendz I’m there. that’s okay, I have some homework of my own that needs doing.

It was fun to meet you and watch your reaction to all the requests for photos. That was an amazing line. they should have had a bar open for that wait, then the vendors would have had more.

Seems to me that you are taking your visit to SS seriously, enjoying every minute, fully aware that there are others appreciating the opportunity for vicarious participation. Thank you! Keep having fun, every minute, be glad that you don’t have to drive! And know there are many who are jealous, hanging on to your every experience in lieu of their own. Don’t mess up. We, and I speak for many, are counting on you!
