i did it bitches!

February 28, 2010

hours before the torch goes out, and while the usa and canada duke it out for gold, i cast off my sweater at 3:15pm est.
i did it bitches!

(mo is proud of me too)

working this pattern, i learned to do a lot of things i’d never done before including:

short rows
hiding wrap and turns
bottom up sweater
sleeve seeming
yoke sweater
extensive color work mixing english and continental knitting

i also learned that jared flood might be the next ysolda teague. the pattern was definitely unclear at times, and not easily modified to achieve a different fit. i would NOT recommend this pattern for the inexperienced knitter.

i want to say i can’t believe it, i can’t believe that in two weeks, i finished this sweater that was a real challenge for me. but honestly, i can believe it. i’ve learned that i do in fact know what i’m doing and that gosh darn it, i’m a pretty damn good knitter.

so yarn harlot, your team may have won olympic gold, but did any of those hot hockey men knit a sweater?

i didn’t think so.

thanks rachel. you seriously need to franchise here in pittsburgh. there are NO fabric stores. NONE! think about it.

Awesome sweater, I’ve been loving your comments on the Yarn Harlot’s blog and then following your progress-you not only got the gold, you knit a whole gorgeous technically ridiculously hard sweater and it looks fabulous. Congratulations.

LOVE IT! It fits you really well. I’m also very proud of you, because I know how much work went into it!

Next time around, relay sweater and sock knitting will be an actual event….ha ha ha! :)

i plan on making you a sweater one day. maybe a christmas sweater. something with snowflakes and reindeer. every man needs one for the holidays. your nieces will love it!

best photo of you ever, the third one. <3

Steven! This is awesome. An entire sweater in two weeks, I dare say you may have had to miss some classes to accomplish such a feat. I went on what some are calling a ‘feminist’ rant on Jeff. meh… i give up on that front. btw, I love the new haircut! see you Tuesday.

actually, i’ve not been 100% for the past month and it’s put me behind in life in general. i only knit this sweater at work and late at night. and for a while in some classes LOL
